About the Role
As an On Site Victim Advocate with Magellan Health, you will support the Army's Victim Advocacy Program (VAP) under the broader Family Advocacy Program (FAP). The program provides comprehensive services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring that those experiencing domestic abuse can access help whenever they need it and transition smoothly to safety. You'll combine advocacy, crisis intervention, prevention, education, and training to make a measurable difference in the lives of service members and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocate directly for victims of domestic abuse, guiding them through available resources and support options.
- Provide responsive crisis intervention as part of a 24/7 service model.
- Deliver prevention initiatives, education, and training that build awareness around domestic violence.
- Support victims in achieving a safe, seamless transition to stability and ongoing care.
- Coordinate with the Family Advocacy Program team to uphold the standards of the Army's Victim Advocacy Program.
Qualifications
- Genuine commitment to victim advocacy, domestic abuse intervention, and family support.
- Ability to work on site in Okinawa, Japan, including participation in a 24/7 coverage schedule.
- Strong communication, crisis-response, and education or training skills.
- Sensitivity, discretion, and the capacity to support individuals through difficult circumstances.
