Office Assistant – Indigent Health Care

Fortbendcountytx is looking for an Office Assistant to support our Indigent Health Care program in Rosenberg, TX. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring smooth, efficient operations for patients accessing healthcare services in our community.

About the Role

As an Office Assistant with Fortbendcountytx's Indigent Health Care division, you'll be the backbone of our front-line operations. You'll manage the flow of patients, maintain organized records, and provide the administrative support that allows our care team to focus on delivering quality healthcare to uninsured and underinsured residents of Fort Bend County. This role requires someone detail-oriented, compassionate, and capable of handling sensitive patient information with professionalism and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and confirm patient appointments, managing calendar systems and patient contact information
• Perform patient intake, including gathering demographic and medical history information
• Maintain and file medical records, insurance documents, and administrative paperwork according to compliance standards
• Answer multi-line phones, direct inquiries, and provide information to patients and community members
• Enter and update patient data in office management systems with accuracy
• Organize and manage filing systems to ensure quick, reliable document retrieval
• Support clinical and administrative staff with general office tasks as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in office administration, customer service, or a healthcare setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort learning electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to handle confidential patient information responsibly and maintain HIPAA compliance
• Reliable transportation to Rosenberg, TX
