About the Role

As an NDT Ultrasonic (UT) Inspector at Joby Aviation, you'll play a critical part in ensuring the quality and structural integrity of our innovative aircraft components. Ultrasonic inspection is essential to our manufacturing process, allowing you to detect internal flaws, material discontinuities, and defects that visual inspection cannot reveal. Your work directly impacts the safety and performance of our next-generation eVTOL aircraft.

What You'll Do

• Perform ultrasonic nondestructive testing on aerospace components, assemblies, and structures using industry-standard UT equipment and techniques
• Operate and calibrate ultrasonic inspection instruments, including thickness gauges, flaw detectors, and phased array systems
• Interpret ultrasonic signals and data to identify defects, material variations, and structural anomalies
• Document inspection results accurately, maintaining detailed records and reports for traceability and compliance
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to determine root causes of defects and support corrective actions
• Adhere to aerospace quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements throughout all testing procedures

What We're Looking For

• Current NDT Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), or Level III certification preferred
• Demonstrated experience performing ultrasonic inspections on aerospace, composite, or metal components
• Proficiency with ultrasonic testing equipment and phased array technology
• Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards and inspection methodologies
• Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and inspection procedures
• Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to quality and safety
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
