About the Role
As a News Producer, you'll oversee the editorial and technical execution of news broadcasts, managing everything from story selection to final broadcast delivery. You'll work collaboratively with journalists, reporters, and on-air talent to create engaging, timely news content that informs and connects with our community.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute news rundowns for daily broadcasts, prioritizing stories based on relevance and news value
- Coordinate with reporters and assignment editors to ensure comprehensive coverage of local and regional stories
- Oversee the editorial process, reviewing scripts, graphics, and package placement for accuracy and impact
- Manage broadcast timing and technical elements to ensure smooth on-air execution
- Monitor news developments throughout the day and adapt coverage as stories evolve
- Collaborate with the production team to optimize storytelling through video, graphics, and digital elements
- Maintain editorial standards and ensure compliance with FCC regulations and company policies
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience producing news broadcasts or working in a newsroom environment
- Strong editorial judgment with the ability to prioritize stories and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency with newsroom software and broadcast production tools
- Fluency in Spanish and English; Spanish-language news production experience is preferred
- Knowledge of local San Diego, Southern California, and regional news landscape
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to breaking news situations
- Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills
