Join Axsome Therapeutics as a Specialty Account Manager focused on Sunosi in San Diego, CA, where you'll drive commercial success for a leading CNS treatment and build lasting partnerships with healthcare customers. This full-time, in-territory position combines direct customer engagement with digital strategy to expand patient access to Sunosi (solriamfetol), our approved treatment for excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea.

About the Role

As our Specialty Account Manager for the Sunosi franchise in San Diego, you'll own territory performance and serve as the category expert for sleep medicine and CNS treatment innovation. You'll balance in-person customer visits with virtual engagement to build consultant relationships, deepen healthcare provider confidence, and support appropriate patient identification for Sunosi therapy. This role offers the autonomy to shape your territory strategy while contributing to Axsome's mission to advance CNS patient care.

Core Duties

  • Execute both in-person and digital customer engagement strategies to drive territory performance against annual commercial goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare customers by understanding their clinical needs and practice priorities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive territory business plan aligned with regional and national commercial strategy
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on payer policies, eligibility requirements, prior authorization processes, and patient appeal procedures
  • Maximize marketing program resources to strengthen customer relationships and build prescriber confidence in Sunosi for appropriate patient populations
  • Provide accurate, timely feedback to sales leadership, marketing, and cross-functional teams regarding market dynamics, customer feedback, and competitive landscape
  • Manage promotional budget allocation and track territory financial performance
  • Facilitate patient access through coordination with patient services and enrollment in Sunosi savings programs
  • Attend medical conferences and professional society meetings as assigned
  • Complete all required training, compliance, and administrative responsibilities with precision

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Five or more years in field sales, account management, or direct customer engagement roles
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable commercial results
  • Minimum three years working as a healthcare professional with CNS or psychiatry experience (alternative pathway to meet core qualifications)
  • Strong preference for five or more years in specialty pharmaceutical or biotech sales
  • CNS/sleep medicine or psychiatry background strongly preferred
  • Previous product launch experience a major plus
  • Proficiency strategizing and collaborating across multiple departments to align resources and achieve business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results under aggressive timelines
  • Adaptability to shifting business requirements and comfort managing ambiguous situations
  • Patient support services or reimbursement experience a plus
  • Demonstrated strength in digital marketing strategies and comfort leveraging virtual engagement channels
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to drive frequently throughout assigned territory
  • Physical capability for prolonged sitting, standing, and overhead reaching as job duties require
  • Capacity to regularly lift, carry, and move materials up to 30 pounds
