About the Role
This flexible position combines direct clinical laboratory practice with educational leadership. You'll work within a complex laboratory environment while mentoring and instructing medical laboratory science students, ensuring both clinical excellence and educational quality that meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
What You'll Do
- Perform advanced laboratory testing and analyses in a high-complexity clinical setting
- Supervise and educate medical laboratory science students in laboratory techniques, procedures, and best practices
- Maintain strict adherence to CLIA, CAP, and institutional quality standards
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Ensure accurate specimen handling, processing, and result reporting
- Model professional laboratory practices aligned with Geisinger's core values
- Mentor students through practical, competency-based learning experiences
- Contribute to a collaborative laboratory team environment
What We're Looking For
- Current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT) certification or eligibility
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field
- Demonstrated clinical laboratory experience in a complex laboratory setting
- Strong communication and teaching abilities with a commitment to student development
- Knowledge of laboratory regulations, accreditation standards, and quality management systems
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and common analytical equipment
- Ability to work effectively in a flexible, part-time schedule
