Medical Lab Tech – UNC Family Medicine at Blue Ridge

UNC Health Care is seeking a Medical Lab Tech to join our UNC Family Medicine at Blue Ridge clinic in Five Points, Wake County. As a full-time Medical Lab Tech, you'll perform essential patient testing and administrative support that directly impacts clinical care across the UNC Health Care System.

About the Role

As a Medical Lab Tech at our Five Points location, you'll work at the beginning level of laboratory testing and documentation, supporting the clinical team at UNC Family Medicine at Blue Ridge. Your contributions ensure accurate, timely lab results that inform patient care decisions. You'll collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals across UNC Health Care's integrated network.

What You'll Do

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection according to established protocols
• Conduct routine laboratory tests and assist with quality assurance procedures
• Maintain accurate patient records and lab documentation in electronic health records
• Prepare specimens for analysis and appropriate transport to reference laboratories
• Follow safety standards and infection control protocols in the lab environment
• Support clinical workflows and communicate results to the care team

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Medical Laboratory Technician certification or eligibility for certification
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Good communication skills and a patient-centered mindset
• Proficiency with electronic health records and lab information systems
