Lead Director, SOX/SOC1 Audit Governance & Quality Controls

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Director of SOX/SOC1 Audit Governance & Quality Controls for our Madison, Dane County office. This is a full-time position leading enterprise-level audit compliance and governance initiatives across our organization.

About the Role

As Lead Director, you will oversee Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance programs, Service Organization Control (SOC1) audit readiness, and enterprise quality control frameworks. Your leadership will ensure our organization maintains the highest standards of financial controls, regulatory compliance, and operational governance that stakeholders and regulatory bodies require.

What You'll Do

• Direct and manage SOX compliance programs, including testing, documentation, and remediation of internal control deficiencies
• Oversee SOC 1 audit processes and coordinate with external auditors to ensure successful control assessments
• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of internal control frameworks
• Establish governance policies and quality assurance standards across audit and compliance functions
• Manage audit schedules, coordinate control testing efforts, and track remediation activities
• Build and mentor high-performing teams focused on audit excellence and compliance rigor
• Communicate audit findings, risk assessments, and compliance status to senior leadership and board committees
• Collaborate with finance, operations, and IT to strengthen internal controls and audit capabilities

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of audit, controls, compliance, or quality assurance experience, with at least 5 years in a director-level or equivalent leadership role
• Deep knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and SOC 1 audit frameworks
• Strong understanding of COSO Internal Control frameworks and governance best practices
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and drive process improvements
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience in healthcare, financial services, or large regulated industries preferred
