About the Role
This full-time internship immerses you in environmental research across Reykjavik and southern Iceland. Working with our naturalist and cultural research teams, you'll gather ecological data, document environmental conditions, and collect cultural narratives that inform two major initiatives: a comprehensive hiking trails publication and an interactive digital guide to Iceland's natural and cultural landscape.
What You'll Do
- Conduct environmental field research and ecological surveys in Reykjavik and south Iceland
- Partner with naturalist guides to collect data on biodiversity, ecosystems, and environmental conditions
- Develop narrative content for a hiking trails magazine that captures Iceland's natural environment and cultural identity
- Contribute to building an interactive website and mobile app featuring naturalist and cultural guides for Reykjavik and southern Iceland
- Document research observations and findings in formats suitable for both print and digital publications
- Support field expedition operations and research team logistics
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing or recently completed degree in environmental science, ecology, biology, or related discipline
- Demonstrated interest in environmental conservation and ecosystem science
- Strong writing ability to communicate research findings to general audiences
- Comfort working in outdoor, remote environments and challenging conditions
- Teamwork and adaptability in dynamic research settings
- Curiosity about cultural perspectives and cross-disciplinary environmental exploration
