You will help drive project success by keeping heavy machinery productive and job sites running smoothly.

What You'll Do

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, and graders to complete excavation, grading, loading, and material-handling tasks according to project plans and site conditions.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections, basic maintenance checks, and cleaning of machines while promptly reporting any issues that could affect safety or performance.
• Follow all safety protocols, site-specific rules, and traffic control plans to protect yourself, coworkers, and the public around active equipment zones.
• Coordinate with supervisors, laborers, and other trades to stage materials, maintain production pace, and achieve day-to-day project targets.
• Read grade stakes, site drawings, and verbal instructions so that cuts, fills, and finished surfaces meet required elevations and tolerances.
• Keep work areas organized and free of unnecessary hazards while loading and unloading trucks or stockpiling materials as directed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator with demonstrated skill operating common construction machinery in active field settings.
• Strong knowledge of safe operating practices, ground conditions, and equipment capacity limits.
• Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and recognize maintenance needs before they escalate.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to project sites in and around Cedar Rapids, IA.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather, climb on and off equipment, and stand or sit for extended periods.
• Clear communication skills and a commitment to teamwork and following direction from site leadership.
