Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Grants and Foundations General Counsel to support our client, a large philanthropic foundation. This role will be based in the United States (nationwide) and is full-time with no remote option.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Chief Operating Officer to oversee the organization's legal function
- Provide strategic guidance on legal, transactional, and compliance matters
- Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for legal operations
- Manage external counsel as needed
Qualifications
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the United States (nationwide)
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit or philanthropic sector
- Strong understanding of legal and compliance issues relevant to foundations and grants management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
