This is a full-time coaching position for someone passionate about developing athletic excellence, building program depth, and fostering meaningful growth in student-athletes through the sport of swimming and diving.
About the Role
As Varsity Head Coach, you will direct all aspects of the girls' swimming and diving program, overseeing daily practice, meet competition, athlete development, and program management. You'll coach swimmers and divers at all skill levels, designing training sessions that build technical proficiency, competitive strength, and team cohesion while maintaining an unwavering focus on athlete safety and well-being.
What You'll Do
- Design and lead comprehensive training sessions focused on stroke mechanics, conditioning, and meet preparation
- Develop competitive lineups and race strategies across sprint, distance, and diving events
- Coach both swimming and diving disciplines, tailoring instruction to individual athlete ability and development
- Manage all program operations including meet logistics, athlete travel, facility scheduling, and equipment maintenance
- Monitor athlete health, injury prevention, and full compliance with concussion management protocols
- Build a positive team culture emphasizing leadership, sportsmanship, and academic commitment
- Communicate effectively with athletes, families, school administration, and athletic department leadership
- Track athlete performance data and maintain detailed program records
What We're Looking For
- Valid Connecticut State Coaching Permit (required)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (required)
- Completion of concussion management training (required)
- Proven high school or competitive-level coaching experience in swimming and diving
- Comprehensive knowledge of aquatic stroke technique and training science
- Strong leadership, communication, and motivational abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to athlete safety, program integrity, and educational values
