Generator Technician / Heavy Duty Mechanic – Midland Shop, Nights

VoltaGrid is hiring a Generator Technician / Heavy Duty Mechanic for our Midland, Midland County service facility. This is a full-time role supporting critical power infrastructure maintenance on a structured schedule.

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced technician to diagnose, maintain, and repair natural gas powered generation systems. You'll work directly with the Shop Manager and field teams, ensuring generators operate safely and reliably. This position offers hands-on mechanical work with industry-standard equipment and a predictable 2 weeks on, 1 week off rotation schedule.

What You'll Do

• Perform full diagnostic evaluations on natural gas generators to identify mechanical and electrical faults
• Execute repairs using proper tools and techniques, from component replacement to system overhauls
• Verify electrical breaker configurations and calibrate settings to match project specifications
• Conduct preventive inspections and recommend maintenance to extend equipment life and prevent costly downtime
• Document all service work, parts used, and test results for customer records and warranty purposes
• Maintain shop equipment, tools, and work area in compliance with safety standards

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience repairing heavy-duty diesel or natural gas engines, generators, or similar industrial equipment
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, including circuit breakers, control panels, and safety devices
• Ability to read technical schematics, service manuals, and equipment blueprints
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Physical capability to lift heavy parts and work in varied environmental conditions
