Field Service Technician – Albany, NY

ACT Power Services is seeking a Field Service Technician - Albany, NY to join its team in Albany, Albany County, providing on‑site support for power equipment across the region.

About the Role

This full‑time position involves traveling to customer sites to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical power systems. The technician will work extended hours Monday through Friday and be available for on‑call emergency response, ensuring reliable operation of client equipment.

What You'll Do

• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on generators, UPS units, and related power infrastructure
• Diagnose faults, replace defective components, and restore systems to optimal performance
• Perform on‑site testing, calibration, and load bank verification following manufacturer procedures
• Document service activities accurately in digital work orders and maintain parts inventory
• Respond promptly to service calls, travel throughout Albany County and surrounding areas, and adhere to all safety standards
• Provide clear communication to customers regarding work performed and recommendations for future upkeep

What We're Looking For

• Technical diploma, certificate, or equivalent hands‑on experience in electrical or mechanical systems
• Prior experience as a field service technician, preferably with power generation or backup equipment
• Strong ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record and willingness to travel to client locations
• Availability to work extended shifts Monday‑Friday and participate in an on‑call rotation
• Effective interpersonal skills for interacting with clients and team members
• Basic proficiency with computers for logging service details and accessing technical resources
