Experienced Tax Accountant, Real Estate Services

RubinBrown, a nationally recognized accounting and professional consulting firm, is hiring a full-time Experienced Tax Accountant — Real Estate Services to join its team in Clayton, Saint Louis County, Missouri.

About the Role

This position sits within RubinBrown's dedicated Real Estate Services practice, where you'll serve a diverse roster of real estate clients — from developers and operators to investors and private equity sponsors. You'll bring technical depth to complex tax engagements while contributing to the firm's reputation for integrity and client-centered service.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for real estate entities including partnerships, LLCs, S corporations, and REITs
• Perform tax planning and structuring analysis for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects
• Conduct depreciation studies, cost segregation analyses, and Section 1031 exchange evaluations
• Analyze partnership agreements and apply complex tax allocation methodologies
• Identify and communicate tax-saving opportunities and risk exposures directly to clients
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across RubinBrown's service lines to deliver integrated solutions
• Mentor and review the work of junior staff, supporting their technical development
• Stay current with evolving real estate tax legislation and IRS guidance

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field; CPA license or active CPA candidacy strongly preferred
• Minimum of 2–4 years of tax accounting experience in public accounting, with a focus on real estate clients or real estate entities
• Solid understanding of partnership taxation, pass-through structures, and real property tax rules
• Proficiency with professional tax preparation and research software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to clients clearly
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment
