What This Role Involves

The role involves leading strategic employment relations across a large and complex organisation. You will be responsible for shaping union partnerships, bargaining outcomes, and people policies that make a real difference for New Zealanders.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead the development of employment relations strategies aligned with organisational goals
• Build and maintain strong relationships with unions and employee groups
• Bargain effectively to secure fair outcomes for employees and the organisation
• Develop and implement people policies that enhance workplace engagement and productivity
• Provide strategic advice on employment relations matters to senior management
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice in employment relations

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Employment Relations Manager or a similar role within a large organisation
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex negotiations and build effective partnerships
• A deep understanding of employment law, collective bargaining, and people management practices
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively
• Strong leadership qualities and a commitment to fostering positive workplace cultures
• Experience in managing diverse teams and working collaboratively across multiple stakeholders
