What This Role Involves
As an Education Support Professional specializing in Special Education (DCD), you'll work directly with students who have developmental or cognitive disabilities, providing classroom support and individualized intervention. You'll be an essential member of the special education team at Two Rivers High School, helping students access the curriculum and develop life and social skills that build confidence and independence. Your work impacts not just academic progress but the overall well-being and success of every student you support.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to students with developmental and cognitive disabilities in classroom and intervention settings
- Assist with classroom activities, academic tasks, and skill-building exercises under the direction of special education teachers
- Support student behavior management, safety, and positive social interactions
- Monitor and document student progress and participation
- Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Help adapt materials and activities to meet diverse learning needs

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Genuine interest in working with students with developmental and cognitive disabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to student-centered support
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Reliable, punctual attendance and professional demeanor
- Prior experience working in special education, classroom, or related settings is a plus
