Minnesota Service Cooperatives is hiring a Night Lead Custodian for a full-time custodial and maintenance position at Oakwood Elementary School in the Wayzata Public Schools ISD 284 district. This is a second-shift evening role offering consistent 8-hour shifts for someone seeking stable employment in school facilities management.
About the Role
As a Night Lead Custodian, you'll manage the cleanliness and operational readiness of school facilities during evening hours. Working the 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM shift, you'll ensure Oakwood Elementary is thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and maintained for each new school day. In this lead capacity, you'll take ownership of custodial quality standards and coordinate evening maintenance activities across the building.
What You'll Do
- Clean and sanitize all classroom spaces, hallways, bathrooms, and student areas
- Maintain floor care through vacuuming, mopping, and periodic buffing
- Collect and dispose of waste from throughout the facility
- Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks as needed
- Inspect and monitor building systems, reporting any concerns or damage
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
- Ensure the facility meets safety and security standards each evening
- Lead and coordinate the quality of evening custodial work
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on custodial, janitorial, or maintenance experience
- Comfort working independently and taking ownership during second shift
- Strong work ethic and attention to cleanliness and detail
- Physical ability to perform cleaning duties for full 8-hour shifts
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to follow safety protocols and building procedures
- Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with school staff
Position Details
- Full-time, permanent position
- 8-hour shifts, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
- Hourly rate: $22.84–$24.62 based on experience, plus $0.40 per hour shift differential
- Location: Oakwood Elementary School, Wayzata Public Schools ISD 284
