Early Childhood Assistant Teacher (3- & 4-Year-Old Classroom)

Union County Community Action, Inc is hiring a Full-Time Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to join our Head Start preschool program in Wadesboro, Anson County, NC. About the Role

As an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher with Union County Community Action, Inc, you'll play a vital role in our Head Start classroom, working alongside our lead teacher to create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support young children's growth across academic, social, and emotional domains while contributing to the mission of our community action agency.

What You'll Do

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily classroom activities aligned with Head Start standards and child developmental milestones
• Provide direct supervision and support to 3- and 4-year-old children during instruction, transitions, and outdoor play
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that promotes learning and exploration
• Support children's social-emotional development through positive guidance and modeling of appropriate behavior
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress and classroom happenings
• Assist with classroom routines including meals, hygiene, and rest time
• Observe and document children's learning and behavior to support assessment efforts
• Collaborate with teaching team and support services to meet individual child and family needs

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED
• Genuine passion for supporting early childhood development and education
• Reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative teaching team
• Physical ability to work with young children, including lifting and bending
• Willingness to participate in required training and professional development
• Valid driver's license (may be required for certain program duties)
• Background check and clearances as required by federal Head Start regulations
