About the Role
The Director of Silicon Product and Test Engineering at Axelera AI will lead end-to-end product engineering, from tapeout through NPI to volume production. You'll oversee the NPI Engineering Manager and Lab Manager while reporting directly to the executive team. Collaboration with Design, Sales, and external manufacturing partners is essential for scaling across concurrent chip programs.
Key responsibilities include defining the product engineering roadmap, developing ATE strategies, making build-vs-buy decisions, and managing budgets and headcount in two technical departments. This role requires a deep technical background to earn senior engineers' respect and strong commercial judgment to drive efficiency and performance improvements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Own the product engineering roadmap across all silicon programs from tapeout planning to high-volume manufacturing
- Develop ATE strategy, including major NPI decisions such as build-vs-buy and test-coverage trade-offs
- Select OSAT partners for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness
- Maintain budgets and headcount in two technical departments while scaling across concurrent chip programs
- Collaborate with Design, Sales, and external manufacturing partners to ensure seamless integration of new products into the market
