Director of Manufacturing Underwriting

Central Insurance is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Underwriting in Dublin, Franklin County to lead the strategic underwriting of complex commercial manufacturing risks. About the Role

As Director of Manufacturing Underwriting at Central Insurance, you will own the underwriting strategy, risk assessment, and portfolio performance for our manufacturing business segment. This is a high-impact leadership role that combines deep technical underwriting expertise with people management and strategic business vision.

What You'll Do

• Lead and develop an underwriting team focused on manufacturing risk evaluation and selection
• Establish and execute underwriting strategies aligned with company objectives and profitability targets
• Evaluate and approve complex manufacturing risks, determining coverage terms and pricing
• Monitor portfolio performance, loss trends, and claims data to refine underwriting guidelines
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company underwriting standards
• Collaborate with sales, claims, and risk management teams to optimize customer outcomes
• Identify market opportunities and develop approaches to grow the manufacturing underwriting business
• Coach and mentor underwriting staff to build technical capability and career growth

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of insurance underwriting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in manufacturing or similar complex commercial lines
• Proven leadership experience managing underwriting teams and personnel
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret loss data, financial statements, and risk indicators
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing operations, hazards, and exposures
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency with underwriting management systems and tools
• Property and Casualty license required (or ability to obtain)
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
