Director of Finance

About the Role

As Director of Finance, you'll oversee all financial operations, accounting, reporting, and planning for Wunderlich-Malec Engineering. This role reports directly to senior leadership and serves as a key strategic partner in guiding capital allocation, profitability initiatives, and long-term business growth. You'll lead a finance team, manage internal controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver insights that inform company-wide decision-making across our organization.

What You'll Do

• Direct accounting operations, financial reporting, and general ledger management
• Develop and oversee annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial planning initiatives
• Lead and mentor a finance team; build capability and processes
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations
• Prepare financial statements and provide strategic analysis to support executive decision-making
• Identify operational efficiencies and cost-optimization opportunities
• Partner with project managers and operational teams to improve profitability tracking

What We're Looking For

• CPA or equivalent finance leadership experience in a mid-to-large organization
• 10+ years in accounting, finance management, or financial leadership roles
• Proven expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and controllership
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax, and audit requirements
• Experience managing accounting teams and developing staff
• Advanced proficiency with accounting software and financial systems
• Excellent communication and ability to translate financial data for non-finance audiences
• Strategic mindset with commitment to continuous improvement
