About the Role

As Director, Field Medical Excellence, you will act as the strategic architect behind world-class Field Medical capability. Operating within the Center for Scientific Exchange Excellence, you will be accountable for defining, measuring, elevating, and protecting the standard of Scientific Exchange Professional performance across Merck's global organization. Your remit is to set the vision and the benchmarks that keep Field Medical teams ahead of the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish the long-term vision, guiding principles, and quality standards for Field Medical excellence worldwide.
• Benchmark Scientific Exchange Professional performance against leading external and internal practices to identify gaps and opportunities.
• Design and advance frameworks that consistently raise the capability and impact of global Field Medical teams.
• Sustain industry-leading performance by embedding repeatable standards, governance, and continuous improvement.
• Partner across the Center for Scientific Exchange Excellence and broader stakeholders to translate strategy into measurable field outcomes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership experience in Field Medical, Medical Affairs, or scientific exchange within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
• Proven track record of building standards, benchmarks, or excellence frameworks at an enterprise or global level.
• Strong strategic thinking paired with the ability to operationalize a vision into practical, scalable programs.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills across diverse, international teams.
• Comfort working on-site in Salem, Marion County in a full-time capacity.
