About the Role
This director-level Medical Science Liaison position focuses on immunology and gastrointestinal disease. You'll serve as Merck's medical and scientific expert for providers across the Northeast, building relationships and delivering evidence-based insights to support optimal patient care in inflammatory bowel disease. Your scientific credibility and medical expertise will directly influence treatment decisions and clinical outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Engage with gastroenterologists, immunologists, and other specialists to discuss clinical data, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic advances in IBD immunology
- Deliver medical education and scientific presentations to healthcare providers, medical teams, and research institutions
- Serve as an internal medical resource, supporting Merck teams with scientific insights and clinical intelligence from the field
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare organizations across your territory
- Gather and communicate market insights, unmet needs, and clinical trends to inform Merck's medical strategy
- Support clinical research initiatives, investigator meetings, and scientific advisory boards
- Maintain scientific credibility through ongoing education and mastery of IBD immunology literature
What We're Looking For
- Terminal degree (PhD, PharmD, DNP, or MD) with medical or scientific credentials
- Deep expertise in immunology, gastroenterology, or inflammatory bowel disease
- Strong scientific communication skills and ability to translate complex data for diverse audiences
- Strategic mindset with focus on growth and continuous improvement
- Proven ability to build and nurture professional relationships with healthcare providers
- Self-directed with excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Willingness to travel throughout the Northeast region as needed
