Merck is hiring a full-time Regional Medical Scientific Director (Medical Science Liaison) focused on Immunology and gastrointestinal disease in the Mid-Atlantic region. This director-level medical affairs position is based in Tarrytown, Texas.
About the Role
As Regional Medical Scientific Director—also known as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL)—you will serve as a credentialed medical expert and strategic partner for healthcare professionals across the Mid-Atlantic territory. Your focus will be inflammatory bowel disease immunology, where you will advance clinical knowledge, support evidence-based care, and contribute to Merck's key business objectives in this therapeutic area.
What You'll Do
- Engage physicians, gastroenterologists, and medical thought leaders with scientific expertise in IBD immunology and treatment options
- Build and strengthen relationships with key opinion leaders and clinical stakeholders throughout the Mid-Atlantic region
- Deliver evidence-based medical information that educates healthcare professionals on clinical efficacy, mechanisms of action, and disease management strategies
- Identify and communicate unmet clinical needs and provide insights that inform medical affairs strategy
- Support market development initiatives while maintaining full compliance with medical affairs regulations and standards
- Gather and communicate relevant clinical intelligence to cross-functional Merck teams
What We're Looking For
- PhD, PharmD, DNP, or MD degree (required)
- Director-level experience in medical affairs, clinical science, or related healthcare field
- Deep expertise in immunology and gastrointestinal disease strongly preferred
- Proven ability to communicate complex clinical science effectively with diverse healthcare audiences
- Strategic, growth-oriented professional committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within assigned territory
