Position Summary

The Dairy Manager will oversee all aspects of dairy herd management and pasture maintenance. This role requires a strong background in agricultural practices and proven leadership skills to manage a team effectively.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the dairy farm, ensuring optimal production levels.
• Oversee the health and welfare of the dairy herd, implementing best practices for animal care.
• Develop and maintain pasture management strategies to ensure sustainable farming practices.
• Coordinate with veterinarians and other professionals to address any health or productivity issues.
• Motivate and lead a team of farm workers to achieve operational goals.

Skills & Qualifications

• Agricultural Diploma or Degree is required.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in dairy herd management.
• Minimum of 4 years of pasture management experience.
• Proven ability to conduct artificial insemination (AI) procedures.
• Strong stockmanship and computer literacy skills are essential.
• Mechanically orientated with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Ability to speak Xhosa is advantageous but not mandatory.
• A valid driver's license is required.
