About the Role

Farm Manager SA is currently seeking a dedicated Dairy Manager to oversee and manage the dairy operations on our farm in Humansdorp, Kouga. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the dairy herd and pasture management, as well as maintaining high standards of stockmanship.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the dairy farm, including milk production and quality control.
• Manage the dairy herd, ensuring optimal health and productivity through regular monitoring and care.
• Coordinate with veterinarians and other specialists to address any health or welfare issues in the herd.
• Implement pasture management strategies to maximize grass utilization and maintain a healthy environment for the cattle.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations and standards.

Skills & Qualifications

• Agricultural Diploma or Degree is required.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in dairy herd management.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in pasture management.
• Proven ability to perform artificial insemination (AI) operations.
• Strong stockmanship skills and the ability to handle cattle effectively.
• Computer literacy is essential for record-keeping and data analysis.
• Mechanical aptitude to maintain farm equipment.
• Able to speak Xhosa, an advantage but not mandatory.
