About the Role
Nationwide is seeking an experienced underwriting professional to grow excess and specialty insurance placement opportunities through our broker distribution channel. As a Brokerage Excess Underwriting Consultant, you'll evaluate new business submissions, make underwriting decisions, and collaborate with brokers to place complex coverage. This role is central to our new business growth strategy in the excess and specialty segment.
What You'll Do
- Review and underwrite new business submissions from brokers in the excess and specialty insurance markets
- Make risk assessment decisions aligned with company guidelines and appetite
- Communicate underwriting decisions and provide feedback to broker partners
- Develop and nurture broker relationships to support new business pipeline
- Meet or exceed new business growth objectives and production targets
- Identify opportunities to streamline underwriting processes and improve operational efficiency
- Maintain accurate submission and policy documentation and records
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in excess and specialty underwriting or related insurance roles
- Strong analytical and risk assessment abilities
- Excellent communication and broker relationship management skills
- Knowledge of excess and specialty insurance lines and coverage types
- Ability to meet growth targets and drive new business results
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred; insurance designations (CPCU, CIC, or similar) a plus
