Role Overview

This Construction Manager (Grand Junction, CO) opportunity with Planate centers on directing construction activities that support the VA Hospital Grand Junction. The contract has already been awarded and requires on-site presence in Grand Junction, CO. You will serve as Planate’s primary point of contact with the client, deliver practical technical guidance, keep construction efforts coordinated with those who occupy the facility, execute inspections, flag risks or concerns with recommended solutions, and supply specialized input for design assessments, build feasibility, and sourcing of materials and equipment.

Core Duties

  • Guide crews and stakeholders through construction completion while overseeing quality documentation and inspections
  • Track the contractor’s techniques and approach, intervening with clear direction so contractual obligations, safety rules, and quality benchmarks stay met
  • Evaluate contractor documentation packages for adherence and issue approvals or counsel back to the government client
  • Carry out site walkthroughs that assess finished work, materials applied, and overall craftsmanship standards
  • Confirm all progress matches approved designs, specifications, industry standards, and governing codes
  • Log variances or shortfalls against the plan and partner with the build team on resolution paths
  • Examine then activate safety and quality frameworks that uphold health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Assess project drawings and specs for technical reliability and real-world construction practicality
  • Contribute recommendations that improve constructability across design and related engineering fields
  • Travel to sites early to capture current facility conditions and shape recommendations for development stages
  • Help assemble procurement documentation supporting both design and construction packages

Who We're Looking For

  • Civil degree or equivalent experience that directly maps to core construction management functions
  • Three or more years of civil or construction management background, ideally gained within healthcare or hospital environments
