BayCare Health System is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I to join our laboratory team at St. Anthony's in Saint Petersburg, Pinellas County. This full-time, onsite position works the night shift (9:00 PM – 7:30 AM) on an every-other-weekend schedule.
About the Role
As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I at BayCare Health System, you'll perform critical diagnostic testing that directly influences patient outcomes. In our fast-paced laboratory setting, you'll analyze clinical specimens, operate advanced laboratory instrumentation, and ensure rigorous quality standards. Your technical precision and commitment to safety will be essential as you contribute to our healthcare mission in Saint Petersburg, Pinellas County.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct and interpret clinical laboratory tests on patient samples
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Perform quality control checks and validate test results for accuracy
- Record and report findings accurately in the laboratory information system
- Communicate findings with physicians, nursing teams, and clinical staff
- Follow CLIA regulations, biosafety protocols, and infection control standards
- Process routine and stat orders to meet clinical turnaround times
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or equivalent
- Current certification (MT, ASCP) or eligibility to obtain certification
- Solid foundation in laboratory methodology and clinical testing procedures
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to result accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Adaptability to night shifts and every-other-weekend work schedules
- Proficiency with laboratory automation and information system software
