Child Nutrition Program Assistant (part-time)

Amherst County School District is seeking a Child Nutrition Program Assistant to join our food service team at various locations throughout the district. This is a part-time position based in Amherst, Amherst County, where you'll help ensure students receive nutritious meals in a clean, welcoming environment.

What This Role Involves

As a Child Nutrition Program Assistant with Amherst County Schools, you'll support the daily operations of our child nutrition program by assisting with meal preparation, food service, and administrative tasks that keep our food operations running smoothly. Working under the guidance of your Child Nutrition Program Manager, you'll contribute to creating a positive food service experience while upholding food safety standards and program requirements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and assist with meal production following established recipes and nutrition guidelines
• Serve meals to students in an efficient, friendly manner
• Maintain sanitary work and serving areas in full compliance with health and safety regulations
• Process meal payments and manage point-of-sale transactions accurately
• Maintain records related to meals served, inventory, and program documentation
• Stock supplies and organize storage areas to support daily operations
• Set up and break down serving areas before and after meal service periods

Who We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to work a part-time schedule aligned with the school calendar
• Strong commitment to food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
• Reliable, punctual, and collaborative team member
• Basic math skills for accurate payment handling and record-keeping
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift as needed
• Willingness to follow policies and accept direction from supervisors
