About the Role

As a Chemical Dependency Recovery Counselor III with KAISER, you'll provide direct therapeutic services and psychosocial support to adults, adolescents, families, and significant others navigating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. This is a part-time position offering flexibility while maintaining meaningful clinical impact across our Los Angeles County service area.

What You'll Do

• Receive and triage patient inquiries, directing individuals to appropriate chemical dependency services and evidence-based treatment options
• Respond to urgent situations, including crisis calls, with clinical judgment and appropriate de-escalation and safety planning
• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to identify substance use severity, co-occurring mental health diagnoses, and treatment readiness
• Deliver individual and group psychotherapy using recognized therapeutic approaches
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to develop and implement individualized treatment and recovery plans
• Provide education and support to families and significant others affected by chemical dependency
• Document patient encounters and maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with KAISER standards

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related mental health discipline
• State licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Psychologist—or equivalent certification in chemical dependency counseling
• Demonstrated clinical experience in chemical dependency assessment, treatment, and recovery support
• Ability to conduct differential diagnosis and recognize co-occurring psychiatric conditions
• Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
• Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity with diverse populations
• Commitment to working collaboratively within an integrated health care system
