What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily operations of the labor and delivery unit during night shifts, including staff assignments and patient acuity management.
  • Act as a clinical resource for nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff, offering guidance on complex obstetric situations.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, intervene when necessary, and escalate care to appropriate providers.
  • Ensure adherence to UCHealth policies, regulatory standards, and evidence‑based practice guidelines.
  • Facilitate communication between shifts, providing concise hand‑off reports to incoming teams.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and staff education programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record and oversee charge capture processes.
  • Respond to emergencies, coordinate rapid response teams, and manage critical situations with calm authority.

What We're Looking For

  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Colorado.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; associate degree or diploma with equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of two years of recent labor and delivery nursing experience, with at least one year in a lead or charge capacity.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess maternal‑fetal health, interpret fetal heart tracings, and manage obstetric emergencies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills to mentor and support a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems (Epic experience a plus) and standard office software.
