About the Role

This full‑time residency resides within the 1697 Recruitment and Retention department and offers a structured 36‑hour weekly schedule with rotating shifts, designed to build clinical confidence while delivering safe, compassionate care to patients across the medical center’s inpatient and outpatient services.

What You'll Do

• Deliver direct patient care under the guidance of experienced preceptors and unit managers.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds, contributing observations and assisting with care plans.
• Complete competency‑based training modules covering medical‑surgical, critical care, emergency, and outpatient settings.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards throughout all clinical activities.
• Engage in evidence‑based practice projects and quality‑improvement initiatives sponsored by the department.
• Attend scheduled educational workshops, simulation labs, and debriefing sessions to reinforce learning.
• Support discharge planning and patient education to promote smooth transitions from hospital to home.
• Maintain professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

What We're Looking For

• Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Missouri or eligibility for licensure upon graduation.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) considered.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS) welcomed but not required.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule that averages 36 hours per week, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the flexibility to adapt to fast‑paced clinical environments.
• Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and a patient‑centered approach to care.
