Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Annual Giving and Donor Relations, the Associate Director plays a critical part in growing philanthropic support for Montana State University. This on-site position in Bozeman, Gallatin County, blends strategic annual fund management with meaningful donor stewardship — making it an ideal fit for a fundraiser who thrives on both data-driven campaigns and authentic relationship building.
What You'll Do
- Develop, manage, and execute annual giving campaigns across direct mail, digital, and peer-to-peer channels
- Build and steward relationships with donors to strengthen long-term philanthropic engagement with the MSU Alumni Foundation
- Leverage digital fundraising tools and platforms to grow the donor pipeline and increase participation rates
- Analyze campaign performance metrics and translate insights into actionable strategy adjustments
- Collaborate cross-functionally with alumni relations, communications, and advancement teams to align messaging and donor touchpoints
- Manage donor acknowledgment and recognition processes that reinforce a culture of gratitude and transparency
- Support the broader annual giving program through prospecting, segmentation, and data-informed outreach
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience, ideally within higher education or a nonprofit organization
- At least 2 years of direct experience in annual giving programs and digital fundraising (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-channel fundraising campaigns from concept through execution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for donor-facing storytelling
- Familiarity with CRM systems, donor databases, and digital engagement platforms
- Collaborative mindset with the organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced advancement environment
This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime.
