Associate Director, Neuromuscular, US Patient Advocacy

Novartis seeks an Associate Director for Neuromuscular Patient Advocacy to drive meaningful change across the US neuromuscular disease community. In this full-time role based in the United States, you will serve as a strategic bridge between patient communities and Novartis, translating patient insights into business priorities while removing barriers to care.

About the Role

This position centers on deep engagement with neuromuscular patient populations, including communities affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 (DM-1), and Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD). You will lead initiatives that surface unmet medical and support needs, shape company strategy around patient priorities, and empower individuals and caregivers to navigate their care journey with confidence.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with patient advocacy organizations, support groups, and community leaders across neuromuscular disease populations
• Conduct research and analysis to identify gaps in patient care, access, and support—informing product and program development
• Design and execute patient mobilization programs that educate and advocate for improved outcomes and resource availability
• Develop solutions that lower barriers to treatment access, including awareness campaigns, educational content, and care navigation support
• Partner with internal cross-functional teams to ensure patient voice influences strategic decisions
• Track outcomes and impact of advocacy initiatives through metrics and stakeholder feedback

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in patient advocacy, community health, nonprofit leadership, or related field
• Demonstrated expertise in rare disease or neuromuscular disease communities
• Proven ability to build trust and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups
• Strong program management and project execution skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication for both clinical and lay audiences
• Strategic thinking with ability to translate data and feedback into actionable insights
