Join Pleasantville Community School District as an Assistant High School Football Cheer Coach for the upcoming season. We're seeking an experienced, dedicated coaching professional to support our high school cheer program in Pleasantville, Marion County.
About the Role
This part-time position partners with the head coach to deliver comprehensive cheerleading instruction and mentorship to our student-athletes. You'll develop athletes' skills, confidence, and school spirit while prioritizing safety and excellence in a competitive athletic environment.
What You'll Do
- Conduct cheer practice sessions emphasizing proper technique, stunting, tumbling, and performance skills
- Assist with practice planning, choreography development, and game-day preparation
- Provide direct mentorship and coaching feedback to help students progress athletically and personally
- Attend football games, pep rallies, competitions, and athletic events to support the team
- Maintain training equipment and ensure facilities meet safety standards
- Monitor student wellness and communicate concerns to the head coach and school administration
- Work collaboratively with athletic staff and school leadership on program development
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience coaching or performing competitive cheer at the high school or collegiate level
- Solid understanding of cheerleading techniques, stunt progressions, safety protocols, and current best practices
- Natural ability to motivate and build positive relationships with high school-age students
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or commitment to obtain before start date
- Clean background check and professional references
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Dedication to developing student-athletes as well-rounded individuals
