About the Role

Capital One is investing heavily in next-generation AI capabilities to create intelligent, real-time customer experiences. As an Applied Researcher I, you'll contribute to our research initiatives in multi-agent systems and knowledge graph technologies. This position bridges research and production, giving you the opportunity to prototype, validate, and implement novel AI approaches that impact millions of customers.

What You'll Do

• Research and prototype multi-agent system architectures, including agent protocols and coordination mechanisms
• Design and implement knowledge graphs and GraphRAG systems for improved information retrieval and reasoning
• Evaluate and integrate frameworks like LangGraph, MCP (Model Context Protocol), and related agent development tools
• Conduct experiments on Graph-of-Thought (GoT) and other advanced reasoning approaches
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research findings into production-ready solutions
• Document methodologies, findings, and technical implementation details
• Stay current with emerging research in AI, machine learning, and distributed systems

What We're Looking For

• Strong foundation in machine learning, AI systems, or distributed computing
• Experience or familiarity with multi-agent systems, agent protocols, or autonomous system design
• Knowledge of knowledge graphs, semantic reasoning, or information retrieval systems
• Proficiency in Python or similar languages used in ML/AI research
• Demonstrated ability to learn new frameworks and technologies quickly
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
