Northumberland County School District is seeking a full-time Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year in Heathsville, Northumberland County. This is a ten-month position where you'll create engaging science learning experiences and help middle school students develop critical thinking and scientific literacy.
About the Role
As a Middle School Science Teacher with Northumberland County School District, you'll work under the leadership of your building principal to design and deliver dynamic, student-centered science instruction. You'll establish a classroom environment that nurtures scientific curiosity, academic rigor, and a genuine love for learning in grades 6–8.
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver science lessons that align with Virginia educational standards and meet the needs of diverse learners
- Create a structured, welcoming classroom that encourages active participation and scientific inquiry
- Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student understanding and adjust instruction accordingly
- Incorporate hands-on experiments, laboratory activities, and real-world applications to deepen learning
- Build strong communication with families regarding student academic progress and classroom expectations
- Collaborate with colleagues across the middle school to support instructional goals and student development
- Maintain detailed records of student performance, attendance, and engagement
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture where all students feel supported and valued

- Current or eligible-to-obtain Virginia Department of Education teaching license
