About the Role

City Year is an AmeriCorps program that partners with schools to address student engagement and achievement gaps. In this entry-level position, you'll serve as both an academic tutor and mentor, working alongside teachers and school staff to provide comprehensive support. You'll build meaningful relationships with students while helping them develop the academic skills, confidence, and resilience needed to succeed in and beyond the classroom.

What You'll Do

  • Provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core academic subjects aligned with school curriculum
  • Support classroom instruction and help implement evidence-based teaching strategies with educators
  • Mentor students on academic progress, personal development, and goal-setting
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify students needing additional support and monitor their progress
