Role Overview

Lakeview Public Schools is seeking an Associate Teacher to support our Great Start Readiness Program, Michigan's voluntary preschool initiative. As an Associate Teacher, you'll work alongside lead instructors to create an engaging, developmentally appropriate learning environment for young learners. This full-time support staff role is essential to fostering social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in our pre-K students through hands-on instruction, classroom management, and individualized attention.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and delivering age-appropriate lessons aligned with Michigan's early learning standards
• Support classroom routines, transitions, and behavior management strategies
• Observe and document student progress, developmental milestones, and learning outcomes
• Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction to support diverse learner needs
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment
• Communicate regularly with families regarding their child's progress and development
• Collaborate with lead teachers, special education staff, and support personnel
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (specific early childhood certification requirements vary by district policy)
• Genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children and families
• Ability to follow classroom procedures and maintain professionalism
• Patience, flexibility, and willingness to support a collaborative team environment
• Physical ability to bend, lift, and engage actively with students throughout the day
• Background check clearance as required by Michigan school districts
