Detection Engineer II at Instacart in United States (nationwide) (nationwide)

Position Summary

We are seeking a Detection Engineer II to join our Security organization and contribute to building and operating systems that identify, surface, and respond to threats across one of North America's largest grocery technology platforms. As part of the Detection Engineering team, you will develop high-fidelity detection logic, hunt for novel attacker techniques, and ensure robust coverage, quality, and scale.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain advanced detection logic across a complex cloud-native environment spanning endpoint, cloud, container, and SaaS platforms.
  • Hunt for new attack vectors and techniques to improve threat detection capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure detection systems are aligned with business objectives and security policies.
  • Implement automated response mechanisms to mitigate threats in real-time.
  • Analyze telemetry data to optimize detection algorithms and enhance overall system performance.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Expertise in developing high-fidelity detection logic using various programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Experience with cloud-native environments, including containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with threat hunting techniques and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of security tools and frameworks such as Splunk, ELK Stack, or similar.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
