Spectrumhealth seeks a compassionate Bereavement Coordinator to provide essential support to patients and families during their time of loss. This full-time position is based at one of our Multiple locations.

What This Role Involves

As a Bereavement Coordinator, you'll be central to our commitment to caring for the whole person—including the grieving process. Your work connects families with specialized services, resources, and support during one of life's most challenging transitions. You'll help bridge clinical care and compassionate human connection, ensuring that those who have experienced loss receive the guidance and comfort they need.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Connect bereaved families with counseling, support groups, and memorial services
  • Maintain compassionate communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Coordinate bereavement follow-up care and outreach to those who have recently experienced loss
  • Document interactions and maintain detailed records to ensure continuity of support
  • Help families navigate resources, including funeral arrangements, financial assistance, and community services
  • Provide emotional support and practical guidance in a respectful, non-judgmental manner
  • Collaborate with social workers, chaplains, and clinical staff to ensure holistic care

What We're Looking For

  • Strong empathy and genuine compassion for people experiencing grief
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work professionally and respectfully with diverse backgrounds and beliefs
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in healthcare, counseling, social services, or a related field is valued
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and standard office software
  • The emotional resilience to navigate difficult conversations with care and presence
