Staff Technical Program Manager, Vehicle Security

Aurora Innovation is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager for Vehicle Security in Seattle, Washington to lead mission-critical security initiatives. This full-time role combines technical program expertise with automotive security strategy for the Aurora Driver platform.

The Opportunity

Aurora develops autonomous vehicle technology for safer transportation and logistics. As Staff Technical Program Manager, you'll lead security programs spanning multiple engineering teams and security domains. This role manages technical roadmaps, risk frameworks, and organizational coordination for a safety-critical autonomous system. You'll bridge security architects, embedded systems engineers, and vehicle platform teams, overseeing programs that directly support the Aurora Driver's security and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead security program initiatives across Product Security, Cloud Security, Security Engineering, Security Operations, Governance and Compliance, and Enterprise IT.
• Establish governance frameworks for vehicle security planning, including roadmaps, risk tracking, dependency management, and escalation protocols.
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of security programs supporting the Aurora Driver platform, from planning through execution and safety integration.
• Coordinate collaboration across vehicle platform, embedded systems, and security teams; identify and resolve technical and organizational obstacles.
• Maintain executive visibility through dashboards that track program status, security milestones, and release cycle dependencies.

Skills & Qualifications

• Eight to ten-plus years of experience in technical, engineering, or security program management within technology organizations.
• Five or more years leading complex multi-team technical programs in automotive, robotics, aerospace, or comparable safety-critical systems environments.
• Demonstrated experience with vehicle architecture, embedded platforms, and infrastructure security; understanding of how security shapes hardware and software design.
• Practical familiarity with vehicle security programs: secure boot, vehicle identity management, onboard credential management, and secure vehicle-to-cloud communication.
• Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity standards including ISO 21434 or UNECE R155/R156 and their application to program governance.
• Strong track record managing programs that bridge hardware and software domains and align with vehicle release schedules.
• Desirable: functional safety experience (ISO 26262, ASPICE), vehicle security domain expertise, automotive supplier security knowledge, embedded security tooling familiarity, or relevant certifications (PMP, PgMP, Agile, SAFe).

The base salary range is $181,000 to $262,000, based on qualifications and location. The successful candidate will also be eligible for annual bonuses, equity compensation, and benefits.
