Staff Technical Program Manager, Vehicle Security

Aurora Innovation seeks an experienced Staff Technical Program Manager to lead vehicle security initiatives across Pittsburgh. This role manages complex, multi-team security programs spanning Aurora's security architecture, from embedded systems to cloud infrastructure, supporting the development and deployment of the Aurora Driver autonomous vehicle platform.

What This Role Involves

You'll guide enterprise-scale vehicle security programs that touch multiple engineering disciplines and security domains. This position bridges strategy and execution, translating security architecture decisions into concrete engineering milestones. You'll manage programs tied to release cycles of a deployed autonomous fleet, coordinating around safety-critical constraints and regulatory requirements that define modern vehicle security governance.

What You'll Do

• Direct multi-team security initiatives across Product Security, Cloud Security, Security Engineering, Security Operations, compliance, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Establish program governance for vehicle security work: create and maintain roadmaps, track emerging risks, manage dependencies, and define escalation protocols across onboard and backend systems.
• Oversee program delivery from conception through implementation and integration with safety assurance processes, ensuring technical execution aligns with the Aurora Driver platform roadmap.
• Facilitate coordination between security architects, embedded engineers, platform teams, and vehicle systems groups; identify and resolve blocking dependencies across hardware and software boundaries.
• Create visibility through program dashboards and executive reporting that tracks vehicle security milestones, release train alignment, and organizational health.

Skills & Qualifications

• 8 to 10+ years managing technical or engineering programs within technology companies or equivalent vehicle, robotics, or aerospace contexts.
• 5+ years leading cross-functional technical programs in safety-critical or physically deployed systems (automotive, robotics, aerospace, or similar).
• Demonstrated expertise in vehicle architecture, embedded platforms, or integrated onboard and cloud infrastructure—with technical fluency in how security requirements flow through a physical system.
• Hands-on experience executing large-scale systems programs such as secure device identity, credential provisioning and lifecycle management, hardware-based security, or vehicle-cloud communication protocols.
• Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity frameworks (ISO 21434, UNECE R155/R156) and their implications for program structure, evidence retention, and audit readiness.
• Track record coordinating hardware and software engineering teams working under long timelines tied to vehicle production or deployment cycles.
