Senior Digital Design Engineer (#OAEG3)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential semiconductor organization seeking a Senior Digital Design Engineer for their Edinburgh office. In this role, you will:

• Design and develop digital circuit architectures from initial concept through production on advanced process nodes, including block-level testbench development
• Collaborate with engineering teams responsible for delivering complex mixed-signal products and intellectual property
• Participate in technical reviews and ensure quality standards using established checklists
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers, contributing to team growth and development
• Work within a high-performance mixed-signal R&D division developing solutions for global consumer markets

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Extensive proven background in digital CMOS circuit design
• Strong experience implementing complex digital circuits and subsystems in RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog
• Understanding of digital system-level design, including standard bus protocols, bus architecture design, and chip-level clock and reset architectures
• Experience with verification of block-level digital designs
• Knowledge of synthesis and timing analysis of digital circuits
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to contribute effectively to design reviews
• Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work with urgency in a dynamic environment

Preferred qualifications:

• Passion for mixed-signal engineering
• Experience with UVM-based verification environments
• Scripting and automation skills for design tasks
• Familiarity with AMBA, SPI, and I2C protocols
• Lab and silicon validation experience, including chip bring-up and debug
• Understanding of Linting, CDC, and RDC tools
• Experience collaborating with DFT and Place and Route teams
• Knowledge of board-level interface standards and design
• Experience with clock generation circuits and multiple clock domain handling
• Familiarity with power gating and low-power design techniques
• Experience with ARM, RISC-V, or similar microcontrollers and memory controllers
• DSP filter design using MATLAB and signal analysis techniques

This is a hybrid position based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Candidates must live within commutable distance or be willing to relocate. Due to export control restrictions, candidates must be able to access technical data without requiring an export license.
