Technical Writer (Fed Civ)

KBR is hiring a Technical Writer (Fed Civ) to join our team in Fulton, Howard County, Maryland. This full-time position offers the opportunity to develop, organize, and refine complex technical documentation and compliance materials for federal civilian programs and initiatives.

Role Overview

As a Technical Writer in a federal civilian capacity, you will be responsible for creating clear, accurate, and comprehensive documentation that communicates complex technical information to diverse audiences. Your work will support mission-critical programs, and your documentation will ensure stakeholders, practitioners, and end-users can understand and implement technical guidance effectively. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with experience in federal contracting documentation standards and the ability to translate subject-matter expertise into accessible written materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and policy guidance for federal civilian initiatives
• Collaborate with subject-matter experts, engineers, and program managers to gather requirements and accurately represent technical processes
• Ensure all documentation adheres to federal civilian writing standards, compliance requirements, and accessibility guidelines
• Review, edit, and refine existing materials to enhance clarity, consistency, and usability
• Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and continuously improve documentation based on user needs

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in a federal civilian, government contracting, or regulated environment
• Strong ability to transform complex technical information into clear, structured documentation
• Familiarity with federal compliance standards, documentation requirements, and accessibility guidelines such as Section 508
• Proficiency with technical writing tools, content management systems, and document formatting
• Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
