Mortgage Inspector

NOFS is hiring a Mortgage Inspector in Sault Sainte Marie, Chippewa County, Michigan. This full‑time position focuses on verifying residential property occupancy through field inspections.

About the Role

As a Mortgage Inspector with NOFS, you will travel to assigned properties in the Chippewa County area to assess whether homes are occupied, vacant, or under construction. Your observations help lenders manage risk and ensure compliance with loan requirements.

What You'll Do

• Conduct exterior and, when permitted, interior inspections of residential properties
• Document occupancy status, property condition, and any noticeable changes using standardized forms
• Capture clear photographs that support your findings and submit them via NOFS’s reporting system
• Maintain accurate inspection logs and meet daily or weekly volume targets
• Communicate any safety concerns or access issues to the operations team promptly
• Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal guidelines while performing fieldwork
• Keep inspection equipment, such as cameras and measuring tools, in good working order

What We're Looking For

• Prior experience as a mortgage inspector, property inspector, or similar field‑based role
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel within Chippewa County and surrounding areas
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow inspection protocols consistently
• Comfort using mobile devices or tablets to complete forms and upload photos
• Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings clearly
• Ability to work independently while staying connected with team leads and support staff
• Basic knowledge of residential construction terminology is a plus
