New London Public Schools is hiring a full-time Bilingual/World Language Teacher at C.B.J. International Elementary Magnet School, bringing language-immersive instruction to one of Connecticut's most dynamic elementary learning environments.
About the Role
As a Bilingual/World Language Teacher, you will deliver content-area and language instruction across two languages, supporting students in developing both academic skills and cross-cultural competency. This is an in-person, full-time teaching position within New London Public Schools' magnet school program — an internationally focused setting designed to cultivate global citizens from the earliest grades.
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver bilingual or world language lessons aligned with Connecticut's academic standards for elementary learners
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse language proficiency levels of students in your classroom
- Create a culturally responsive environment that affirms students' linguistic identities and builds on their home language strengths
- Assess student progress in both language acquisition and content mastery, using data to adjust instruction
- Collaborate with grade-level and specialist teachers to integrate language objectives across subject areas
- Communicate regularly with families, including in the target language when applicable, to support student growth at home and at school
- Participate in school-wide professional development, IEP meetings, and curriculum planning as required
What We're Looking For
- Active State of Connecticut educator certification in Bilingual Education (902 or 009), or Elementary Education (305) with eligibility for a bilingual cross-endorsement (902 or 009)
- Demonstrated proficiency in English and the target language of instruction
- Familiarity with bilingual and dual-language instructional models at the elementary level
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to foster an inclusive, high-expectations learning culture
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and culturally sustaining pedagogy
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
