Senior Concept Designer – Aerie and Offline

American Eagle Outfitters is hiring a Senior Concept Designer for Aerie and Offline, based in Gramercy Park and Murray Hill, Manhattan. In this full-time role, you'll drive the creative vision and conceptual direction for Aerie's fast-growing portfolio of intimates, apparel, swimwear, and accessories—brands rooted in authenticity, inclusivity, and celebration of real representation.

What This Role Involves

As a Senior Concept Designer, you'll own the development of design concepts and aesthetic frameworks for Aerie and Offline. You'll translate market insights and brand values into compelling visual directions, mood boards, and conceptual strategies that guide product, marketing, and retail experiences. This role is part creative visionary, part collaborative leader—you'll partner closely with product teams, merchandising, and the design director to ensure concepts evolve into cohesive, market-ready work.

Core Duties

• Conceive and develop design direction and visual concepts for Aerie and Offline product lines and campaigns
• Create mood boards, inspiration decks, and conceptual presentations that communicate aesthetic strategy to leadership and cross-functional partners
• Research and synthesize market trends, cultural movements, and competitor landscapes to inform original conceptual thinking
• Collaborate with product design, marketing, and merchandising teams to translate concepts into actionable design briefs
• Present concepts and design rationale to the Design Director and stakeholders; refine based on feedback
• Ensure all work aligns with Aerie's brand commitments to inclusivity, real representation, and authentic storytelling

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking and trend awareness
• Senior-level proficiency in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite
• Proven experience developing mood boards, visual narratives, and design concepts for consumer brands
• Strong understanding of contemporary fashion, lifestyle, and retail design aesthetics
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to articulate design concepts to diverse audiences
• Collaborative mindset with experience working across product, marketing, and creative teams
• Passion for inclusive design and authentic representation in creative work
